Nintendo Direct September 12, 2025 – All Games & Highlights

Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary
Nintendo is celebrating 40 years of Mario with several surprises:
- Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Wii classics return on October 2, 2025.

- Price: €39.99 each in the Nintendo eShop, individually or as a bundle.
- New: Rosalina’s Storybook is included in both games. The book from Galaxy 1 will also be sold as a physical edition.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
A brand-new Yoshi adventure, set to release in Spring 2026 for Switch 2.
- Story: A talking book called “Mr. Enzo” falls onto Yoshi’s Island. Yoshi jumps into its pages to uncover the mysteries behind the strange creatures inside.
- Visual style: Storybook-like, hand-drawn, resembling an illustrated children’s tale.
- Gameplay: Classic 2D sidescrolling with new puzzles. Yoshi carries a flower that interacts with the environment — making plants grow or affecting objects.

Glossary
Gameshare
A new feature on the Nintendo Switch 2 that allows players to share games between two consoles. This means only one person needs to buy the game for both to play together. There are limitations: usually only one friend can play at the same time, and both consoles must be online.
Gamechat
The Switch 2’s built-in voice chat function. Players can talk directly through the console without needing a smartphone app. Free until March 31, 2026, after which a Nintendo Switch Online subscription will be required.
Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo’s subscription service. Provides online multiplayer, cloud saves, exclusive deals, and access to retro titles such as NES, SNES, and N64 games. Available as individual or family plans.
Joy-Cons
The detachable controllers of the Nintendo Switch. They can be attached to the console, used separately, or combined in a grip to act like a traditional controller. Many games also support motion controls via Joy-Cons.
Couch Co-Op
A multiplayer mode where several people play together on one console, often with split-screen or shared-screen gameplay. Classic examples include Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros.
DLC (Downloadable Content)
Additional content released after a game’s launch. Can include new levels, characters, costumes, or full story expansions. DLCs may be free or paid.
Nintendo eShop
Nintendo’s digital storefront for games, DLC, and apps. Players can purchase and download digital copies directly to their Switch.
Digital Copy
A version of a game purchased through the eShop and downloaded directly onto the console. Advantage: instant access, no physical media required. Disadvantage: cannot be resold or shared physically.
Physical Copy
A cartridge version of a game sold in stores. Advantage: collectible, can be resold or lent out, doesn’t use storage space. Disadvantage: requires changing cartridges to switch games.
