Mario Kart World (*) on the Nintendo Switch 2 excites fans with new drivers, vehicles, tracks, and— for the first time—unlockable stickers. In this guide, you’ll learn how to unlock all characters, all vehicles, the Rainbow Road, and stickers—plus tricks and useful gameplay tips.
🧍♂️ Unlocking All Characters
To unlock characters in Mario Kart World (*), you need to complete all cups at least once. Your placement in each cup doesn’t matter—just finish the races.

🌈 Unlocking Rainbow Road
The famous Rainbow Road is part of the Special Cup. To unlock it, you must complete all seven standard cups at least once—your race result doesn’t matter.
🚗 Unlocking Vehicles
You unlock new vehicles by collecting coins in any mode:
- Every 100 coins collected unlocks a new kart
- This works in all game modes (Race, Time Trial, etc.)
- All characters can use unlocked vehicles
🛠️ Tips & Tricks
💰 What Do Coins Do?
The more coins you collect during a race, the faster your vehicle becomes:
- At 20 coins, you’ve reached the maximum speed bonus (approximately +5% speed, according to players on the internet).
- For each additional coin collected, you also get a small mini boost—though it’s not as strong or long-lasting as the turbo boost you get from drifting or performing stunts.
- The speed increase is more noticeable between 0–10 coins than from 10–20
🌀 Stunt Boosts for Mini-Turbos
When you jump off a ramp or wave, press ZR + a direction to perform a stunt. This gives you:
- A Mini Boost when landing
- A bonus turbo if you’re grinding on a rail and perform a stunt
